Arun Wanderers Cricket Club has been running for many years as a means of enjoyment and relaxation for church members interested in cricket, and also as an opportunity to involve friends and rub shoulders with opponents not associated with church.
It has always been the intention to play as well as possible, yet display throughout exemplary standards of behaviour and sportsmanship and be attractive opponents to play against.
Some years it has been a struggle to put a team together each week, but in the last few months there has been a resurgence of interest, probably due in the main to last year's Ashes triumph, and now there are over 20 regularly at nets on a Saturday morning.
Arun Wanderers have become an integral part of church life and, though I am not a cricketer myself, I am delighted to endorse and promote the club and encourage players, officials and supporters to be salt and light. I wish them a good season.
